Malayalam filmmaker Aashiq Abu on Monday revealed the first look poster of his next film Virus. The intriguing poster features people dressed in protective medical suits, pushing a trolley of bags filled with what seem like medical wastes.

Sharing the poster on Instagram, Aashiq wrote: “Our Next. Based on our #TrueStories". The picture and caption put together has raised speculations that the film may be based on the recent outbreak of the Nipah virus in Kerala.

In a seemingly ambitious project, Aashiq also brings together an ensemble cast—Revathy, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Rima Kallingal, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Kalidas Jayaram, Remya Nambeeshan, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan and Chemban Vinod.

The Nipah virus outbreak was first reported in Kozhikode in Kerala earlier this year. Fruit bats were considered to be the source of the disease which claimed as many as 17 lives including that of a nurse Lini Puthussery. The state government and health departments were lauded for their efforts in containing the outbreak.

Virus will hit screens next summer.
