Actor Alec Baldwin is all set to join the Batman universe. Baldwin will play Thomas Wayne, Bruce Wayne's (Batman) father in Joker.
Joker is a standalone film centered around the iconic 'clown prince of crime'. Joaquin Phoenix is set to star as the titular villain. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the script paints Baldwin's Thomas Wayne as a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mould of a 1980s Donald Trump.
Baldwin recently starred in the Paramount's hit Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and recently wrapped a role in Motherless Brooklyn, a crime drama being made by Warners.
Earlier there was also news about veteran actor Robert de Niro being roped in for the film. Joker will be different from other DC comic films, primarily because of the low budget. It is neither going to be a fancy studio-technique film or an action fest. The film will delve deep into the psyche of the intriguing titular character.
