As Malayalis gear up to celebrate Vishu, a handful of Malayalam films hope to lure in family audience. This weekend will see stiff competition between two films—Dileep's Kammara Sambhavam and Mohanlal, starring Manju Warrier, Dileep's former wife.
A similar situation arose in September last year when Manju's Udaharanam Sujatha and Dileep's much-talked about Ramaleela locked horns at the box office. Ramaleela did have an edge over Udaharanam Sujatha.
This week, both Kammara Sambhavam and Mohanlal are highly-anticipated movies. Besides featuring Dileep in a different avatar, Kammara Sambhavam, written by Murali Gopy and directed by Rathish Ambat, will also see Malayalam debut of Tamil actor Siddharth. At the audio launch of the film recently, Dileep thanked his fans who stood by him during 'tough times' and urged them to make the film a success.
Mohanlal, directed by Sajid Yahiya, will see Manju Warrier essaying an ardent Mohanlal fan. Fans of both Manju and Mohanlal are expected to throng this light-hearted flick.
Who will gain at the box office? We will have to wait and watch.
