From raw materials to missiles: Adani's ₹2,500 crore project marks a new era in defence manufacturing
Adani Defence and Aerospace has laid the foundation for a ₹2,500-crore defence manufacturing facility in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. This project establishes India's first integrated missile production ecosystem in the private sector
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the foundation stone for a significant ₹2,500-crore defense manufacturing facility in Shivpuri, established by Adani Defence and Aerospace, which will house India's first private sector integrated missile production ecosystem, encompassing a missile complex, composite propellant complex, and TNT complex, aiming to streamline the entire missile manufacturing value chain from raw materials to mission-ready systems, thereby enhancing India's indigenous defense production capabilities, bridging the gap between trials and large-scale production, bolstering the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives, and establishing South Asia's largest private-sector missile manufacturing facility.

In a major boost to India's indigenous missile manufacturing ecosystem, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a ₹2,500-crore defence manufacturing facility in Shivpuri that will house an integrated missile production ecosystem.
The facility, being established by Adani Defence and Aerospace, will comprise a missile complex, a composite propellant complex and a TNT complex, bringing together the entire missile manufacturing value chain—from raw materials to mission-ready missile systems—under one roof.
According to the company, this will be the first such integrated missile manufacturing ecosystem in India's private sector, with the facility producing medium- and long-range missile systems along with composite propellants and explosive-grade materials.
The company said the integrated complex will manufacture everything from raw materials required for national defence to fully assembled, mission-ready missiles at a single location outside government-owned establishments, strengthening India's indigenous defence production capabilities.
The Adani Group said this is South Asia's largest private-sector missile manufacturing facility, and India’s first such integrated facility.
"This facility will help bridge the gap between successful DRDO trials and large-scale production, enabling next-generation missile systems to move into service faster," a statement from the company said.
According to the company, the project will strengthen India’s position as a reliable supplier of precision-guided munitions.
The project is also expected to provide fresh impetus to the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives, while creating direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Adani Enterprises Director Jeet Adani said, "This facility will bring raw materials and mission-ready missiles under one roof, a historic first outside the public sector."
Explaining the broader vision behind the project, Jeet Adani said, "In the defence and aerospace sector, we are promoting indigenisation, working closely with the DRDO and the Armed Forces to systematically reverse India's dependency on imports... Shivpuri is the next giant leap in that journey as we bring a full-range, integrated missile ecosystem to manufacture medium- to long-range missile systems, replacing foreign dependency with domestic power."
He added that the company would go beyond missile assembly by manufacturing critical inputs as well. "We are going deeper than just assembly. We are establishing composite propellant manufacturing as well as TNT and explosive-grade material production. Over the next three years, we will build this state-of-the-art facility with an investment of ₹2,500 crore."
