Mahindra has come out with an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) for India's security forces, complete with a gun mount, tandem tyre carrier and airdrop-ready architecture.

According to Anand Mahindra, the ATV is all about resilience, adaptability, and the spirit needed to go anywhere, which in essence means the vehicle is built with the most important purpose of enhancing the mission readiness of the armed forces.

"No excess. No ornamentation. Just focused capability," Anand Mahindra said, describing the vehicle in a social media post.

The ATV, which could be based on Thar Roxx, features a large windshield which appears to be reinforced to offer protection in hostile environments.

Instead of conventional doors, the ATV is fitted with lightweight metal pipe units, which could reduce the overall weight of the vehicle while retaining structural integrity.

In place of the traditional roof, it has a modular roll-cage setup, which allows the vehicle to support a 360-degree turret that can be fitted with a 7.62mm medium machine gun.

The vehicle also comes with underbody protection to withstand rough terrain and potential blast threats.

It also has dedicated storage mounted on the rear fenders.

"Every bar, every mount, every inch of clearance has a job to do. From airdrop readiness to mission-grade protection, a gun mount, complete underbody protection, tandem tyre carrier configuration, jerrycan holders, a windshield protector & a front winch ensuring enhanced survivability, versatility, and operational effectiveness across diverse terrains," Anand Mahindra wrote.

He said to him, this is more than a specialised machine. "This is what our DNA looks like… stripped to its essentials

It’s a window into what sits at the heart of every Mahindra vehicle: resilience, adaptability, and the will to go anywhere…"
