Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, who was in India recently for a visit, expressed admiration for the restraint India exhibited during Operation Sindoor.
According to media reports, Admiral Paparo, who asserted that the US-India defence ties are on a "steeply-upward trajectory" and are set to expand further, said he has "tremendous reverence for the terrible event (Pahalgam attack)" that preceded Operation Sindoor and the four-day military stand-off between India and Pakistan.

"In my discussion with my partners, I applaud the tactical execution (of operations). We also sincerely applaud the restraint that was exhibited. We hope to work together to see that such a terrible event doesn't happen again," he was quoted as saying by The Times of India, while responding to a query on his take on Operation Sindoor.
Admiral Paparo, who said there is always a lesson to be learnt from every conflict, said his takeaway from the India-Pakistan conflict, which saw Chinese weapons in play, was that "complex long-range weapons have complex long-range kill chains."

He further said the India-US defence partnership has a unity of purpose to maintain peace through strength.
According to him, India and the US have a convergence of interests, and both sides are looking to further bolster defence and military ties, especially in the maritime domain.
Admiral Paparo also visited the Indian Army's Western Command headquarters in Chandimandir of Haryana's Panchkula and held discussions with Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar on strategic security dynamics along India's Western Front, reported the news agency PTI.
The Western Command of the Indian Army, in a social media post, said the visiting delegation was comprehensively briefed on the Western Front perspective, including operational preparedness, distinguished legacy, the execution of Operation Sindoor and the pivotal role being played by the Indian Army in nation-building and strengthening regional stability.
