Addressing the Diamond Jubilee (61st Raising Day) celebrations of the Border Security Force (BSF), Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that efforts and initiatives to modernise the Central Armed Police Force will begin next year. The Government’s agenda is to ensure BSF will become the world’s best border security force within five years.

2026 will be dedicated to the welfare of the BSF personnel and their families, the Union Home Minister said during his address at Gujarat’s Bhuj on Friday.

"The BSF and the Home Department will take various initiatives for the welfare of the personnel and their families. Additionally, the coming year will be dedicated to modernising the force, with a target of transforming it into the world's most modern and most capable border security force within five years,” he was quoted as saying by BSF.

He also praised the BSF's role during Operation Sindoor, when India’s armed forces clashed with Pakistan in early May. Hailing the valour of the force, Shah said: "During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan took our attack on terrorists as an attack on them, and when the Pakistani army came into action, our BSF soldiers left no stone unturned in giving them a befitting reply.” The whole of India is proud of the BSF jawans, Shah said, while remembering the supreme sacrifice of the 2,013 soldiers of the BSF who laid down their lives while securing the country's borders.

"Due to the efforts of the BSF and the Army, Pakistan announced a unilateral truce, and because of this, it became clear to the entire world that India's border should not be violated. Otherwise, they will have to face the consequences," he added.

Amit Shah also used the opportunity to declare that “e-border security” has completed its trial phase and will be introduced soon. “...we are also introducing a new concept called e-border security. We have completed the trial phase. I am happy to announce that the BSF has played a major role in implementing the e-border security concept, and the initiative was also taken by it,” PTI quoted him as saying.
