IAF celebrated Indian Air Force Day on October 8 and a photo purportedly showing the dinner menu at the anniversary celebration featured Operation Sindoor targets like Rawalpindi and Muridke in the name of the dishes.
A day after the Indian Air Force (IAF) marked its 93rd anniversary on October 8, a picture of its celebratory dinner menu has taken the internet by storm — not for the food, but for the humour behind it.
The main dishes were Rawalpindi chicken tikka, Rafiqui Rhara mutton, Bholari paneer methi malai, Sukkur sham savera kofta, Sargodha dal makhni, Jacobabad mewa pulao and Bahawalpur naan.
The desserts included Muridke meetha pan, Balakot tiramisu and Muzaffarabad kulfi faluda. THE WEEK could not independently verify the authenticity of the viral image.
Muridke was the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba while Jaish-e-Mohammed was based in Bahawalpur. Muzaffarabad was also a terror target.
Rawalpindi is home to the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the Pakistan Army while Sukkur, Sargodha, Jacobabad, Bholari and Rafiqui are Pakistani airbases targeted during Operation Sindoor.
The other air bases targeted during the military operation, but not mentioned in the menu, include Nur Khan, Sialkot, Murid, Pasrur, Chunian and Skardu.
The IAF also destroyed terror targets in Chhakwal, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, Bhimber, Chakswari, Rawalkot and Kotli.
Later, a dossier on Pakistan's Operation Bunyan un Marsous revealed that Indian airstrikes destroyed other targets in Peshawar, Jhang, Hyderabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Bhawalnagar, Attock and Chor.
Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 innocent civilians on April 22. The attack was carried out by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of Pakistan-based LeT terror group.
In retaliation to IAF airstrikes, Pakistan sent a barrage of missiles and drones targeting civilian and military facilities, all of which were thwarted by India.
New Delhi's fitting response to the Islamabad-sponsored Pahalgam terror attack forced the Pakistani DGMO to request his Indian counterpart to end the 88-hour conflict in May 2025.
