Watch | Army reveals how decisive strikes, PM Modi's high-level meeting led to India-Pakistan ceasefire during Operation Sindoor

The Indian Army's Northern Command has unveiled details of 'Operation Sindoor', a major military action initiated after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack

The Indian Army on Wednesday revealed how it carried out decisive strikes against terror launchpads during Operation Sindoor earlier this year, in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. Hinting Operation Sindoor is not over, the Army said, "India continues the fight against terror."

Sharing a video of India's major military operation against Pakistan in recent years, the Northern Command of the Indian Army tweeted, "#NorthernCommand‘s resolute operations in #OperationSindoor were an exemplar of restraint turning into decisive response. Precision strikes on terror launchpads and the elimination of perpetrators of the #Pahalgam massacre underscore our unwavering pursuit of peace in the region."

Revealing the sequence of events that led to Operation Sindoor, the Army said Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting after the Pahalgam terror attack, and how chiefs of all three defence forces planned and mobilised troops for the strike.

As many as 26 innocents were killed by terrorists allegedly with Pakistani links in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. The deceased include 24 tourists, a Nepali citizen and a local horse owner. Considered one of the worst terror attacks in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370, Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to avenge the killings.

India announced a series of diplomatic action against Pakistan in the aftermath of the attack, and suspended the Indus Waters Treaty. On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor and struck nine terror launchpads along the Line of Control. In retaliation, Pakistan launched airstrikes targeting 26 locations along the border in India. India's air defence system successfully thwarted the strikes.

After days of heightened military operations, India and Pakistan agreed to stop firing on May 10. However, India's diplomatic measures against Pakistan continue.
