Army chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi calls for tech-driven military strategy to counter evolving threats

Indian Army chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi stressed leadership, adaptability, and technology for future wars, urging jointness, innovation, and military education

Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi underscored the importance of leadership, adaptability and technological integration of the armed forces to counter the evolving nature of warfare today.

Addressing the student officers from the Indian armed forces undergoing the 80th Staff Course and the permanent staff at Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the Army chief highlighted the strategic challenges faced by India and spoke about the need for jointness and synergy among the armed forces.

He urged officers to be proactive in their approach to emerging security threats and said it is important that they embrace innovation in military planning and operations.

Gen Dwivedi commended DSSC for the role it plays in grooming future military leaders and emphasised the importance of professional military education in enhancing the operational preparedness and decision-making capabilities of the forces.

During his visit, he interacted with faculty members and discussed key aspects of military strategy, operational art and leadership development with them.

Gen Dwivedi was briefed by Commandant DSSC Lt Gen Virendra Vats, on the adaptation of the staff course curriculum to align to the challenges of future wars, with special reference to the activities of the first Deep Purple Division, wherein 40 tri-services officers have undergone their training.
