The outreach programme, organised by the Eastern Naval Command commenced on October 14 and will go on till October 30. Similar programmes were held in the previous years as well.
During the 15-day journey, a team of 40 personnel from the Navy, including officers and sailers, will travel across major cities in Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh, covering around 2,500 km.
The participants in the expedition will visit schools and colleges in cities like Guwahati, Shillong, Aizawl, Imphal, and Kohima during the Navy's outreach programme.
Some of the objectives of the Navy expedition include showcasing the capabilities of the Indian Navy, and the career opportunities available in the force, including the Agnipath Scheme.
There is also a particular focus on Nari Shakti (women empowerment) as women officers of the Navy, along with their spouses, are participating in the expedition.
Besides, the programme also includes interaction with Navy veterans and the wives of fallen soldiers from the region.
