Telangana Food Safety Department officials raided popular Bengaluru-based QSR chain Rameshwaram Cafe's Hyderabad outlet and found multiple safety violations, including using expired food products.

According to media reports, the expired food stock seized from Rameshwaram Cafe included 100 kilograms of urad dal, 10 kilograms of curd, and eight litres of milk.

The officials also seized unlabeled items from Rameshwaram Cafe, including 450 kilograms of raw rice, and 300 kilograms of jaggery. It was also found that there were no medical fitness certificates for food handlers at the restaurant.

Furthermore, the officials also found that the dustbins of the restaurant were not properly covered.

Bengaluru-based Rameshwaram Cafe had only recently expanded its quick service restaurant (QSR) chain outside the city. The restaurant was opened at Hyderabad's Madhapur area in January.

The officials, who are raiding multiple restaurants in Hyderabad to ensure that safety standards are not compromised, also found serious safety violations at the popular Baahubali Kitchen. The kitchen of the eatery was found cockroach-infested.

There were other serious hygiene issues noticed at the restaurant, including unhygienic kitchen with stagnant water, and improper storage of raw and semi-prepared food. There were also no pest control records at the hotel.

According to the officials, Baahubali Kitchen also failed to display FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) license true copy.
