National oil companies have reduced the prices of the commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 102.5 effective from 2022 New Year's Day, news agency ANI has reported.

According to sources, the 19-kg cylinder will cost Rs 1998.50 in New Delhi, as against the Rs 2,101 price that was announced on December 1.

The slashed prices will bring some relief to small commercial food establishments, for whom this new development bucks a steep rise in prices over the last few months.

The December hike took the cost of the commercial cylinder to the second-highest in Delhi's history, only after the Rs 2,200 price per cylinder in 2013.

That was a Rs 100 hike from November, when the prices were increased by a whopping Rs 266.

There will not be any drop in the cost of domestic cylinders.

The cylinder rates are revised on the first of every month all over the country.
