RealMe X announced for July 15 launch, features pop-up camera

The phone is expected to be priced around Rs 18,000

Shenzhen-based smartphone manufacturer RealMe has just announced the launch date for its first pop-up camera, the RealMe X. In a post on Twitter, the company announced July 15 as the launch date alongside a promotion model that the company is offering in partnership with the Spiderman: Far From Home film release.

The RealMe X will have the following specifications:

Body: 161.2 x 76 x 8.6 mm

Display: Full HD+, 6.53 in, 1080 x 2340 (85.9% screen-to-body ratio)

Rear camera: 48 MP f/1.7, 5 MP f/2.7 depth sensor, 4K 30FPS video recording

Front camera: 16 MP f/2.0, wide-angle pop-up camera

OS: Android 9 Pie, ColorOS 6

Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 710

CPU: Octa-core (2x2.2 GHz Kryo 360 Gold & 6x1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver)

GPU: Adreno 616

Memory: 4 GB, 6GB, 8GB RAM,

Storage: 64 or 128GB of storage. The phone does not have a microSD slot.

Battery: 3,765 Mah, supports VOOC-C fast-charging

Colours: Steam white, punk blue, Red, and onion and garlic variants designed by Naoto Fukasawa

In an earlier tweet, the company CEO Madhav Sheth confirmed a pricepoint of about Rs. 18,000, as well as special features for the Indian edition.

In addition, the company announced a special Spiderman: Far From Home edition featuring a gift box. The Chinese variant of this promotional phone was priced at around Rs 18,000 while the standards editions of the phone began at Rs 15,000. The pricing may vary with the model and launch offer.

The phone joins the VIVO Nex, the Vivo V15 Pro, the Vivo V15, Oppo F11 and OnePlus 7 Pro in having a pop-up camera.

The RealMe X was launched in China on May 15. The company started its India operations in May of 2018 and aims for a 12-15 per cent market share in 2019. Chinese-built phones have been growing in popularity, with related brands taking up 66 per cent of the market share in the first quarter of 2019. RealMe in particular has benefited from large offline sales.
