The National Testing Agency, which is organising the NEET 2020, will begin the registration process for the exam from Monday (December 2) at 4 pm. The notification regarding NEET 2020 registration was released by the NTA, and candidates can register online for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2020 through the official website―ntaneet.nic.in.

NEET is now the single entrance test to get admission to undergraduate medical course for MBBS and BDS in the country. The HRD ministry has prescribed that from the 2020-2021 academic session, there would only be a single entrance test―the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). NEET will be used to allot seats in medical courses across the country, including in AIIMS, JIPMER and private medical colleges. Candidates planning to pursue medicine in foreign countries also need to clear the NEET in order to seek admission in medical schools and universities outside India.

Aspirants are advised complete the NEET 2020 registration process at the earliest in order to avoid last-minute hassles.

The application fee to apply for NEET has been hiked from this year. The NTA, in its notification, has set a 5-7 per cent increase in the NEET 2020 application fee. General category candidates must pay a fee of Rs 1,500. General EWS and OBW Non-Creamy Layer candidates must pay Rs 1,400. The NEET application fee for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, PWD categories, and also transgender candidates, has been set at Rs 800.

NEET 2020 eligibility

Candidates must qualify the following eligibility criteria to appear for NEET 2020 examination.

  • Only Indian nationals are allowed to appear for the exam.
  • Applicant must have completed 10+2 or appearing for 10+2 exam in 2020.
  • Applicants must have subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology at 10+2 level. They must also have Mathematics and an elective subject along with English at 10+2 level.

NEET 2020 age limit

The NTA has set the lower age limit to appear for NEET 2020 at 17 years as on December 31, 2019. The upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2019. For candidates belonging to the SC, ST, OBC, NCL, PWD categories, a relaxation of five years in the upper age limit has been set for NEET 2020.
