Saarbrucken (Germany), Oct 30 (PTI) Double Olympic medallist P V Sindhu continued her impressive run, cruising into the women's singles semifinals of the Hylo Open Super 500 badminton tournament with a commanding win over Germany's Amalie Schulz, here on Friday.
Sindhu will next face compatriot Anmol Kharb in the semifinals after the latter knocked out sixth seed Unnati Hooda in a hard-fought three-game contest.
The semifinal clash will thus ensure an Indian finalist in the women's singles event, with Sindhu and Anmol both eyeing a place in the title round.
The former world champion Sindhu, who finished runner-up at French Open recently, needed just 27 minutes to get past Schulz 21-12, 21-10 and book her place in the last four.
Sindhu was in control throughout the contest, winning 42 of the 64 points played. She also won six consecutive points at one stage, twice as many as her opponent's best run of three points.
The Indian made a strong start in the opening game and maintained her advantage to take it 21-12. She continued in the same manner in the second game, giving Schulz little room to fight back before closing out the match 21-10.
Anmol prevailed 21-17, 18-21, 21-16 in a match that lasted one hour and eight minutes.
