New Delhi, Nov 6 (PTI) Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday said Rahul Gandhi's campaign against "vote chori"
New Delhi, Nov 6 (PTI) Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday said Rahul Gandhi's campaign against "vote chori" through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is the "country's campaign."
"It is not Rahul Gandhi's campaign; it is the country's campaign. It is the voice of the people, the vote of the people. As a principal political party, the Congress has given freedom, democracy and the Constitution. Being the Leader of Opposition, he is protecting the Constitution and democracy," Shivakumar told reporters here.
"We have a history. Congress's history is the country's history. Congress's strength is the country's strength. Whenever the Congress was in power, it has shared everything equally with every section of society. That is what he (Gandhi) wants to maintain," he said.
Shivakumar was in the national capital to attend a Diwali get-together hosted by Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
Several AICC office-bearers, Congress Working Committee members and general secretaries in-charge of states attended the event.
"Great arrangements were made for the Diwali get-together. We enjoyed it. All of us shared love, unity and peace," Shivakumar said.
