Ranchi, Nov 6 (PTI) The opposition BJP on Friday burnt an effigy of Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari and lodged a police complaint against him over his remarks.

A BJP delegation led by former state president Deepak Prakash lodged the complaint at Argora police station and sought legal action against the minister.

"We have registered a complaint against Irfan Ansari for provoking youth to violence, challenging the Army and conspiring against the country," Prakash, a former Rajya Sabha MP, said.

"We demand legal action against the minister for his anti-national statement," he added.

Argora police station in-charge Satish Kumar told PTI that a complaint had been received from the BJP and further action would be decided after examining it.

Earlier, BJP workers burnt an effigy of Ansari at DPS Chowk in Ranchi and demanded his removal from the Hemant Soren cabinet.

Terming Ansari's remarks "anti-national", BJP general secretary Amar Bauri said, "Chief Minister Hemant Soren should immediately remove him from the cabinet..

Speaking to PTI Video on Thursday, the Congress leader claimed that youth, farmers, the middle class, Dalits, tribals and Muslims are in trouble under the BJP regime and anger is building among them.

"I went to Delhi and spoke to students there. Forty lakh youth are out on the streets. They are waiting for just one command. They will not go beyond what Rahul Gandhi says. Rahul Gandhi held these young people back," he said.

If the prime minister does not become alert, an emergency-like situation will emerge in the country, he claimed, adding, "The situation will be worse than that of Bangladesh and Nepal."
