Gorakhpur, Nov 4 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Cabinet minister and Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad on Wednesday accused opposition parties of attempting to destabilise India at the behest of foreign forces, claiming that developments in neighbouring countries were part of efforts to create similar instability in India.
Addressing the NDA's 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' (Save democracy, remove anarchy) foot march in Gorakhpur, which was attended by BJP president Nitin Nabin, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary, Nishad urged people to remain cautious of attempts to mislead the public and disrupt democratic institutions.
“Some opposition parties, acting at the behest of foreign forces, are trying to destabilise India. Nepal and Bangladesh have been destabilised, and similar attempts have been made in Pakistan and several other countries. They want India to be pushed into the same situation and thrown into the fire through undemocratic means,” he said.
Nishad also referred to India's historical experience of foreign rule and the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle, saying the country's independence should not be allowed to be undermined.
“Anyone can express disagreement through democratic means, but there is no place for spreading anarchy or misleading the public,” he said.
Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India “regaining” international recognition, Nishad claimed Indians living abroad now feel more secure and respected.
He also thanked the Modi government for strengthening the country's economy and promoting India's cultural identity, referring to the friendship between Lord Ram and Nishadraj in the epic Ramayana and the installation of a statue of Nishadraj in Prayagraj.
Nishad also praised Adityanath for the improved economy and law and order in Uttar Pradesh.
Recalling his years as a student in Gorakhpur and the time he ran a clinic in the area, Nishad said curfews and restrictions on movement were frequent in the past, which have changed under the present government.
He also claimed the opposition parties are uncomfortable with the development under the BJP and accused the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and the Congress of misleading people through allegations of vote theft.
Referring to a social justice committee report, Nishad alleged that these parties were voted out of power because of the irregularities in the distribution of jobs and social justice.
He also called for taking the foot march to villages to make people aware of the “attempts” by the opposition parties to create disorder.
