Jharkhand BJP women's wing to gherao SDPO office in Godda over alleged rape of tribal woman

Ranchi, Nov 4 (PTI) The BJP's women's wing will stage a gherao of the SDPO's office in Jharkhand's Godda district on November 5 to protest the alleged rape of a tribal woman by the principal of a private school, the party said in a statement on Wednesday.

    The alleged incident took place under the jurisdiction of Sunderpahari police station.

    An FIR was registered against the principal on Sunday based on the woman's statement.

    He has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), police said.

    According to the statement, party workers will stage a protest and submit a memorandum to the SP, demanding an impartial investigation and justice for the survivor.

    The woman was employed as a cook at the principal's residence, while her husband worked as a cook for the schoolchildren, the statement said.

    The accused allegedly sexually exploited the woman over a period of four to five months, during which she became pregnant, it alleged.

    The principal allegedly gave her abortion pills, following which her health deteriorated and she had to be admitted to a hospital, the statement added.
