Siliguri, Nov 3 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday accused opposition leaders who have assembled in Delhi

Siliguri, Nov 3 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday accused opposition leaders who have assembled in Delhi of conspiring to spread anarchy in India, similar to the situation in Bangladesh, with the help of what he described as “dimagi naxals, jihadis and cockroaches”.

Addressing a public meeting at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk in Siliguri, Adhikari alleged that the “politically vanquished” leaders, including the “aunt-nephew duo”, had gone to Delhi seeking the support of anarchists, and asserted that they must first win elections to return to power.

“The BJP knows how to deal with those attempting to destabilise the country,” he said, adding that the party would not spare saboteurs.

Mocking opposition dynasties, Adhikari described them as belonging to “4G” (Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi), “3G” (Karunanidhi, M K Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin) and “2G” (Mamata Banerjee-Abhishek Banerjee and Lalu Prasad-Tejashwi Yadav) political families, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, had “no G”.

Claiming that the Ram temple in Ayodhya would not have been built without Modi's intervention, he also credited the PM with bringing back the idol of Goddess Annapurna stolen from Varanasi and later found at the Mackenzie Art Gallery at the University of Regina in Canada.

“The BJP would sweep the upcoming Siliguri civic body elections, expected in February”, and added that “the results of the Kolkata municipal polls would mirror those in Falta, Nandigram and Rejinagar”, where the saffron party have won.

Promising accelerated development in North Bengal, he said the government would inaugurate multiple airports in the region before the 2029 Lok Sabha polls, reopen tea gardens, establish higher education institutions, create employment opportunities and facilitate the return of migrant workers.

“We will spare no one who committed crimes against women during the previous regime. This government has shown perpetrators like (TMC leaders) Jahangir Khan and Sheikh Shah Jahan how strict we can be,” Adhikari said in an apparent bid to reach out to women voters in the region.

The CM said the BJP would move to Siliguri after the party’s “victories in Kolkata and Howrah”, promising to clean up “political garbage in the state with bleaching powder and phenyl”.
