Gurugram, Nov 2 (PTI) A 30-year-old woman died after allegedly jumping from the 11th floor of the Mahindra Aura society in Sector 110A, Gurugram, police said on Monday.
The woman, identified as Neha Tiwari, had recently returned from New Zealand and was experiencing mental distress. She had been living in the apartment with her father, Brajraj Tiwari, a retired Army Colonel.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening at around 7 pm when Neha was on the balcony of their flat. She allegedly jumped over the balcony railing, resulting in her death upon impact with the ground.
Neighbours heard a loud noise and rushed to the scene, discovering her lying on the ground, covered in blood. Police arrived shortly after receiving the report and transported her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to family members, Neha was married in 2021 to Shubham Sharma, a native of Banaras, who previously worked as a software engineer in Gurugram.
A few months ago, he secured a job in New Zealand, and the couple moved there with the intention of settling permanently.
Due to Visa issues, Neha returned to India while her husband remained in New Zealand.
Family members noted that ever since her return, Neha had been suffering from significant mental distress.
While the police initially suspected the case to be a suicide, they are conducting a thorough investigation based on statements from family members and other relevant details.
"We handed over the body to her family following a post-mortem examination on Monday. Further probe is underway", a senior police officer said.
