Chandigarh, Nov 2 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday searched the premises of former Punjab minister and Congress leader Sunder Sham Arora, his family members and others in connection with a money laundering investigation, officials said.

The agency searched a total of 14 premises in Hoshiarpur, Chandigarh and Mohali, including the residences of 68-year-old Arora, his son Prateek Arora, and directors and associates of GRG Developers and Promoters LLP, SRG Developers and Gulmohar Township Group, the officials said.

The raid teams were provided security by central paramilitary forces.

Officials said the action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is linked to an alleged corruption and possession of disproportionate assets case booked by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau against the former minister earlier and purported irregularities in Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) plot allotments and subsequent change in ownerships, officials said.

The action comes ahead of the assembly polls in Punjab scheduled for early next year.
