Minor ‘gangraped’ in Jharkhand’s Palamu 3 arrested

Medininagar, Nov 1 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in Jharkhand’s Palamu district, a senior officer said on Sunday.

Three accused have been arrested in connection with the case, he said.

The incident took place in Untari Road police station area on October 29, when the girl was returning home in an e-rickshaw, police said.

“The minor had gone to meet her boyfriend after learning that his parents had fixed his marriage with someone else. Upon reaching there, she could not meet him. While returning, the driver of the vehicle and two others took her to a secluded place and raped her,” Palamu SP Kapil Choudhary said.

Police arrested the three accused – aged between 20 and 38 years – on October 31, after lodging an FIR based on the girl's statement, he said.

They have been booked under sections of the BNS and the POCSO Act.

“The girl's medical examination has been conducted and her condition is stable. Further investigation into the case is underway,” another officer said.
