Kolkata, Nov 1 (PTI) Senior CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty on Sunday said that sharing a platform with the TMC in Delhi against the BJP and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not mean an alliance with the Mamata Banerjee-led party in West Bengal.

Chakraborty said all those opposing the BJP's alleged "vote chori" joined a rally in Delhi's Ram Leela Maidan during the day.

"Standing together against the BJP and Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi does not mean there will be any alliance with the TMC back in Kolkata," the CPI(M) leader told reporters.

He also said that the TMC was itself "broken", alluding to the split the party suffered following its defeat in the assembly elections.

While one TMC faction is headed by former chief minister Mamata Banerjee, the other is led by Ritabrata Banerjee. A section of the party's MPs have joined the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI).

Responding to Chakraborty's remarks, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said it was a matter of concern how successful the events jointly organised by non-BJP parties would be without collaboration at the local level.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday alleged that the CPI(M) and the TMC have come together to create anarchy in West Bengal.

Soon after the TMC's defeat in the Assembly polls, former Mamata Banerjee invited all political parties to unite against the BJP.
