LG Sinha reconstitutes Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee

Srinagar, Oct 30 (PTI) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday reconstituted the Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee and appointed Lok Sabha MP Mian Altaf Ahmad and two MLAs as its members for three years.

     According to an official order, the LG exercised the powers conferred on him by sections 17(1) and 18(1) of the Haj Committee Act, 2002 (Act No. 35 of 2002) read with Rule 20 of the Haj Committee Rules, 2002 to reconstitute the Haj Committee.

     "... In supersession of earlier notification(s) issued on the subject, the Lieutenant Governor of the Jammu and Kashmir hereby appoints the following as Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Haj Committee for a period of three years from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette," the order read.

     The newly appointed members are MP Mian Altaf Ahmad, MLAs Javaid Iqbal, and Mir Mohammad Fayaz, and Zafar Iqbal Manhas, and Ahsan Ul Haq Mirza as members.

     The order said that the Executive Officer, Haj Committee, shall be the Ex-Officio Member of the Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee.
