Bengaluru, Oct 29 (PTI) Karnataka's Food Safety and Drug Administration Department on Thursday inspected 45 packaged drinking water units across the state, collected 32 samples for laboratory testing and issued notices to 24 units for various violations, Health Minister U T Khader said.

The inspections, conducted on his directions, revealed unhygienic conditions, absence of medical certificates for staff, missing FSSAI licences, labelling defects and lack of pest control certificates, the minister said in a social media post.

Misbranded packaged drinking water was seized from units in Mysuru and Davanagere, while a unit in Mulbagal in Kolar district was shut down due to unhygienic conditions, he said.

The 32 water samples have been sent to government food laboratories for testing, Khader said.

"There will be no compromise on the quality of drinking water. Legal action will be taken against those found guilty. These inspections will continue regularly," he said.

The minister also urged consumers to check the FSSAI licence number, ISI mark, manufacturing date and intact seal before purchasing packaged drinking water.

Consumers who find irregularities can scan the QR code to lodge a complaint with the department, he added.
