49-year-old man injured as part of 2nd floor slab collapses in Thane building

Thane, May 18 (PTI) A portion of a slab from the second floor of a four-storey residential building collapsed onto the first floor in Maharashtra's Thane city, injuring a 49-year-old man, civic officials said on Monday.
The incident occurred at 10.05 am at 'Matoshree' building in the Pachpakhadi area of the city on Sunday, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).
The bedroom slab of flat No. 205 of the nearly 35-year-old structure collapsed on flat No. 105. The building has been categorised as 'C2B', indicating it requires structural repairs, he said.
One person, Anant Laxman Mhatre, suffered injuries to his leg, hand and nose in the incident and was admitted to the Thane district government hospital for treatment, Tadvi said.
The occupants of the affected flats will be shifted to the rental houses of the civic corporation, he stated.
The RDMC chief said officials from the local ward committee, including personnel from construction, encroachment and disaster management departments, visited the spot.
