Mann govt turned Punjab into capital of corruption drugs BJP's Chugh

Chandigarh, May 13 (PTI) BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Wednesday lashed out at the AAP-led Punjab government, alleging that it has reduced the state to the "capital of corruption, crime and drugs".
He said that AAP which came to power claiming to be the "party of staunch honest people" has today become the party of "staunch dishonest people".
Corruption has been completely institutionalised under this government, and the Vigilance Department itself,” created to curb corruption,” is now drowning in the swamp of corruption, Chugh alleged while speaking to reporters here.
On the issue of sand mining, Chugh said AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal had claimed that Rs 20,000 crore would be generated from it, but the records show that even Rs 1,000 crore has not materialised, amounting to a "loot" of nearly Rs 19,200 crore.
Referring to the Enforcement Directorate action against Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, Chugh said that the central agency had concrete documentary evidence of Rs 100 crore money laundering, yet the Punjab government is holding press conferences standing alongside the accused.
"Protecting those who loot Punjab is not 'Punjab Pride'...Bhagwant Mann Sahib,” you should be ashamed," he said.
Chugh also attacked the AAP government over the law and order issue, alleging it has "collapsed" in the state.
He claimed nobody is feeling safe in the state, while industrialists and doctors are getting extortion calls from gangsters and criminals.
He further lambasted the government over the issue of recent blast incidents in Jalandhar and Amritsar.
"The DGP says Pakistan link, while the chief minister blames the BJP," he said, adding that a seven-day notice was given which expires on Thursday. "If no evidence is produced, legal action will follow."
