Mumbai, May 12 (PTI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP president Sunetra Pawar has inducted her sons Parth Pawar and Jay Pawar into the party's national working committee.
Parth Pawar, who was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha, has been appointed general secretary, while his younger brother Jay Pawar has been named national secretary and president of the party's disciplinary committee, according to a letter sent by Sunetra Pawar to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on April 29.
As per the letter, Parth Pawar has been entrusted with the task of party coordination.
Sunetra Pawar became the deputy chief minister and NCP head after the death of her husband and then deputy CM Ajit Pawar in a plane crash at Baramati in Pune district on January 28 this year.
In the letter, addressed to the ECI secretary, Sunetra Pawar forwarded the list of 22 members of the party's national working committee.
Apart from Sunetra Pawar as president, the working committee includes senior leader Praful Patel as NCP leader in the Rajya Sabha, Sunil Tatkare as party leader in the Lok Sabha, and state minister Chhagan Bhujbal.
Other prominent members include senior leader Dilip Patil, and Shivajirao Garje as treasurer.
Parth Pawar is the general secretary along with Subodh Mohite.
NCP leader Manikrao Kokate, who had resigned as minister after a video showed him playing a game on a mobile phone in the legislature and making controversial remarks on farmers, features in the working committee.
Jay Pawar has been appointed national secretary and president of the party's disciplinary committee, in addition to being designated as treasurer.
The committee also includes Dhiraj Sharma as national president (youth), while MLAs Chetan Tupe, Shekhar Nikam, Sana Malik and Saroj Ahire also feature in the list.
Among other members are Avinash Adik, Sanjay Prajapati, Toko Tatung, who is listed as MLA and state president for Arunachal Pradesh, Rana Ranvir Singh, Dr Raman Preet Singh, Dhananjay Sharma and Dr Abhishek V Bokey, all designated as national secretaries.
