Kota (Raj) May 11 (PTI) Two women who developed complications post-C-section surgery have been moved to the general ward of New Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) after showing signs of recovery.
A health bulletin by NMCH said the condition of six post-partum women under treatment in the Super Speciality Block was "under intense medical observation".
Two of the women were shifted to the general ward, two of them are on life support, while two others remained stable.
Rajasthan principal secretary (health) Gayatri Rathore visited the Kota hospital and took stock of the situation.
After her visit, Rathore told mediapersons that three of the six post-partum patients who have infections are presently critical and under observation, but their health parameters are said to be improving.
The reason behind the infections and other complications was yet to be clear and a high-level investigation into it is underway, the official said.
She added that treatment and recovery of the patients are currently the main focus.
Kota collector Peeyush Samaria, New Medical College principal Dr Nilesh Jain and a team of doctors accompanied Rathore during her visit.
Another state-level team also inspected the government hospitals in Kota earlier in the day.
"So far, the root cause has not been identified and we are not able to pinpoint where it started. A local committee and a team of experts from Jaipur are investigating to ascertain the cause," NMCH principal Jain said.
A source in the state drug department said the cause of deaths and infections could not be due to some drug, saying the same drugs were administered to the patients in other hospitals, but no complications were reported elsewhere.
