Ranchi, May 7 (PTI) Two persons were killed after their car fell into a pond in Jharkhand's Ranchi district, police said on Thursday.
The accident occurred late on Wednesday near Chaladi village under the Tamar Police Station limits, around 60 km from the city, when the driver lost control of the car, and the vehicle plunged into the pond, a senior officer said.
They were returning from a wedding ceremony when the accident happened, Tamar Police Station in-charge Praveen Modi said.
"Prima facie it appears that the driver lost control of the car while taking a sharp turn, and the vehicle fell into the nearby pond," the officer told PTI.
The process of identifying the deceased is underway, he said, adding that they were between 35 and 40 years of age.
With the help of villagers, the two persons were taken out of the pond and sent to Tamar community health centre, where a doctor declared them dead, another officer said.
