Amaravati, May 7 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said the TDP-led NDA government has inherited debts worth Rs 10 lakh crore from the previous YSRCP regime.
Addressing the seventh collectors conference at the Secretariat, the chief minister alleged that the previous government had diverted Rs 10,000 crore funds away from 94 Central schemes.
"From the previous rulers, the government has received Rs 9.74 lakh crore in debts. The previous government had diverted Rs 10,000 crore from 94 Central schemes," said Naidu.
According to the CM, there used to be heavy leakage of funds in welfare schemes, but noted that the direct benefit transfer (DBT) method has plugged it by directly depositing the funds into the beneficiaries' accounts.
Accusing the previous YSRCP government of leaving potholed roads, the CM noted that the NDA alliance government is now ruling in such a way that living standards are improved, along with accelerating development.
Reflecting on the business reformer award he received recently, Naidu said it will change the mood in the southern state and help attract investments. All the district collectors and senior officials gave a 'standing ovation' to Naidu for winning the award.
Observing that the award was a result of collective effort, the CM said it resulted from the work of the ministers and from employees, starting from the chief secretary to village-level officials.
Moreover, Naidu said the government was working by keeping people's satisfaction as the yardstick.
