Former UP minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi's husband PC Joshi dies at 79

Prayagraj/Lucknow, May 4 (PTI) Puran Chandra Joshi, 79, husband of former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister and former Allahabad MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi, died in Lucknow on Monday morning, family sources said.
    In a social media post, Joshi said, "It is with deep sorrow that I inform you that my husband, Shri P C Joshi, passed away today at 7 am at SGPGI, Lucknow."
    According to her media in-charge, Manu Kakkar, Joshi had fallen ill suddenly last Thursday and was admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), where he breathed his last.
    A retired engineer from TSL in Naini, Prayagraj, Joshi is survived by his wife, son Mayank Joshi and daughter-in-law Richa Joshi.
    His mortal remains were brought to Prayagraj on Monday evening. The last rites will be performed on Tuesday at Daraganj ghat, with the funeral procession starting at 2 pm from his Minto Road residence, Kakkar said.
    Leaders cutting across party lines condoled the demise of Joshi.
    Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Union Minister Jitin Prasada, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain, BJP state chief Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, state ministers Surya Pratap Shahi, Nand Gopal Gupta, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, among others, paid tributes to him.
