Palghar, May 4 (PTI) NGO Shramjeevi Sanghatana on Monday said it would organise protests against the decision of the Palghar Zilla Parishad (ZP) to suspend class 9 and 10 divisions across 57 schools due to the shortage of funds and legal complexities regarding teachers' salaries.
The ZP said it had taken the decision as these teaching positions lack official state sanction, due to which the Tribal Development Department had refused to allocate funds.
"The move by the Zilla Parishad Education Department would severely impact students in remote and tribal areas, forcing many to travel long distances or discontinue schooling altogether. This is not just an administrative decision but a direct blow to the right to education of children from tribal and rural communities," Sanghatana functionary Suresh Renjad said.
More than 7,000 students are currently enrolled in these 57 schools, he said, adding that a series of protests have been outlined, including a march to the District Collector's office, a 'Shikshan Bachao' awareness campaign at the village level, and a dharna involving parents and students outside the education department.
