Maharajganj (UP), May 1 (PTI) A pick-up vehicle carrying the body of a deceased person allegedly failed to get diesel at a fuel station here despite waiting in queue for nearly two hours, with a purported video of the incident going viral on social media.
In the clip, a bystander can be heard saying that the situation has now deteriorated to such an extent that "even the dead are forced to stand in line".
Taking cognisance of the matter, officials have assured that action will be taken.
According to sources, Sarvesh Kasaudhan -- a resident of Sidhave village under Nichlaul police station area -- passed away on Wednesday. His family members were transporting the body in a pick-up vehicle for the last rites.
En route, the vehicle ran out of fuel and halted at a pump located on the Nichlaul-Chiutahan road.
The vehicle apparently waited in line for approximately two hours, but failed to get a refill. The pump staff eventually shut down the facility, saying the fuel stock was over.
During this time, the body of the deceased person remained inside the pick-up truck.
The incident sparked resentment among the people at the scene.
A purported video of the incident was shared widely on social media.
In this regard, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nichlaul, Siddharth Gupta on Friday said he has received information regarding this matter.
A notice would be issued to the petrol pump operator, and if deemed necessary, an FIR would be registered against them, he said.
