Army organises cultural event for residents of border town in J-K's Kupwara

Srinagar, Apr 12 (PTI) Indian Army organised a cultural and musical event for residents of Tithwal town along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said on Sunday.
    "In a stirring confluence of culture, community and country, Shaam-e-Watan, a musical extravaganza suffused with patriotic fervour and nationalistic spirit, was organised by the Indian Army at Azmat-e-Hind, Tithwal, in the Karnah region of Kupwara, North Kashmir," the officials said.
    They said the event was a testament to the changing social consciousness of a resurgent Kashmir, where the youth are emerging as confident custodians of a progressive and harmonious future.
    "The evening unfolded as an exquisite mosaic of performances, soul-stirring patriotic songs, evocative poetry, and graceful dance recitals that captivated the audience and evoked a profound emotional resonance. Each performance served as a poignant reminder of an enduring bond with the nation, imbuing the atmosphere with a palpable sense of pride and belonging," a defence spokesperson said in a statement.
    Around 600 people -- including children, youth, community elders and civil society representatives -- attended the event.
    General Officer Commanding of 28 Infantry Division, Major General Rakesh Nair, and Kupwara Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Balasaheb Suse were present, the spokesperson said.
    The participants took a solemn oath to work collectively towards a drug-free India. The pledge, administered by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mumtaz Peerzada, underscored a shared societal commitment to confronting the menace of substance abuse, the statement said.
