Senior US diplomat appreciates Pakistan's regional mediation role

Islamabad, May 14 (PTI) A senior US diplomat on Thursday appreciated Pakistan's role in regional mediation during talks with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar here.
     US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur called on Dar, and the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional developments, the Foreign Office said in a statement.
     Kapur "appreciated Pakistan's role in regional mediation and noted the positive trajectory in bilateral relations", it said.
     Dar appreciated US President Donald Trump’s vision for peace, the Iran-US ceasefire understanding, and the visit of Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan on April 11–12.
     He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy.
     Expressing satisfaction over the current momentum in Pakistan-US relations, Dar welcomed growing engagement between the two countries and the expansion of cooperation across multiple fields.
     He also underscored the importance of regular high-level exchanges and sustained structured dialogue, the statement said.
     Both sides agreed to further strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, and development, it said.
