Jammu, Oct 31 (PTI) A high-level coordination meeting was held here on Saturday between the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Jammu, and the Jammu Division of Northern Railway, with the objective of developing a highly efficient, cost-effective and fully integrated logistics and supply chain system in the region.
The meeting brought together senior government officials, railway policymakers and representatives of the industrial sector to deliberate on ways to improve freight transportation, enhance railway connectivity and address logistical challenges faced by local manufacturers, traders and industrial establishments, a railway spokesperson said.
He said the meeting was organised with a focus on establishing stronger institutional coordination between the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, local manufacturing units and Indian Railways, ensuring that the region's growing industrial requirements are adequately supported by modern and reliable transportation infrastructure.
The deliberations were aligned with the objectives of the National Logistics Policy (NLP), which seeks to reduce logistics costs, improve operational efficiency, promote multimodal transportation and enhance the competitiveness of businesses across the country, the spokesperson said.
Emphasising their shared strategy, both departments explained how future cargo terminals, dedicated industrial sidings and paperless digital tracking systems will be integrated with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, to ensure seamless last-mile connectivity for regional manufacturing hubs, he said.
