New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) Jio Platforms' strong financial performance reflects its competitive advantage, Managing Director Akash Ambani said on Friday, noting that the company has built on a full-stack technology capability backed by deep engineering expertise to drive growth and profitability.

Speaking at the company's Q2 FY27 earnings call, Ambani said Jio Platforms has multiple growth engines across mobility, home, enterprise and international markets. On international expansion, Ambani emphasised that Jio would be selective about markets it enters and is looking to become a managed services partner to customers.

"We are the only ones with a full-stack technology capability across seven layers, backed by deep engineering expertise and proprietary intellectual property developed by Jio Platforms itself," he said.

He said that the latest results reflect the company's competitive advantage.

Ambani said Jio's technology capabilities, extensive distribution network and culture of innovation were translating into stronger operating performance, reflected in improving EBITDA margins and higher average revenue per user (ARPU).

"We have a culture of innovation that is driving execution and operating excellence. You have seen our EBITDA margins improve and our ARPU go up over these quarters," he said.

Identifying enterprise services as a major growth opportunity, he said India has around 3.5 lakh leased lines, accounting for barely five per cent of the country's total information and communications technology (ICT) spending.

Jio intends to tap this market by bringing enterprise customers onto its platform and offering digital solutions beyond connectivity. Small and medium businesses also represent a significant opportunity, with Jio positioned to offer broadband connectivity and layer additional digital services on top, he said.

"India has around 3,50,000 leased lines, and that accounts for maybe 5 per cent of the total ICT spend. What we want to double down on is ensuring that our digital solutions enable us to bring those customers onto our platform and grow from there. And, of course, the small and medium businesses that exist across our country represent a unique opportunity," he said.

On overseas expansion, Ambani said Jio would be selective about the markets it enters and would pursue a managed-services model rather than selling proprietary technology stacks as hardware or software-as-a-service.

"It is not going to be a heavy-capex rollout," he explained.

The company has a "clear path to growth and improving profitability, supported by a very strong balance sheet, even before the IPO proceeds come to us", he added.

Ambani noted that Jio Platforms' initial public offering broke records across all investor categories despite challenging market conditions and foreign fund outflows, and asserted that the company expects to create even greater value over the next decade than it did in its first ten years.

He said the overwhelming investor response reflected recognition of the business Jio had built over the past decade, particularly against the backdrop of volatility in Indian and global markets.

"We were raising around Rs 30,000 crore, and we saw the demand of over Rs 7.5 lakh crore. That's 24.5 times subscription," he said.

Ambani said records were broken across "every investor category", the qualified institutional buyers (QIBs), small and large high-net-worth individuals, retail investors, shareholders and employees.

Pointing to foreign outflows of nearly Rs 48,000 crore, Ambani said the IPO's success was particularly heartening given prevailing market conditions.

"Again, they say these are overnight successes," he quipped, adding that "I can tell you that we have put in extremely hard work over the last 10 years to build this business, and we will continue to do so."

He also highlighted the "fantastic" anchor investor book, which attracted domestic and international funds, including technology-focused investors such as Dragoneer.

Describing the IPO as just a new milestone, Ambani said JPL's ambitions extended well beyond its listing.

"We believe that the value we can create over the next decade or so is even greater than what we have created in our first decade," he said, adding that the company continues to aspire for more.

Reiterating the message from his NSE listing speech, Ambani said, "Never let today's achievement limit tomorrow's ambition, and that is what we want to carry forward with Jio".

Jio Platforms on Friday reported a 13.7 per cent year-on-year rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 8,389 crore for the second quarter ended September 2026, its performance bolstered by subscriber additions, higher average revenue per user (ARPU) and healthy growth in digital services.

The newly-listed company's consolidated revenue from operations rose 11.4 per cent to Rs 40,475 crore during the quarter under review.

The net profit attributable to owners of the company stood at Rs 8,389 crore for the just-ended quarter against Rs 7,379 crore in the year-ago period. On a sequential basis, consolidated net profit rose 8 per cent from Rs 7,765 crore in the June quarter, while revenue from operations increased 3.3 per cent from Rs 39,173 crore.

Notably, the September-quarter scorecard is the company's first financial results since its stellar listing earlier this week, and the earnings briefing also marks the first time Managing Director Akash Ambani addressed investors on a quarterly results call.
