Lucknow, May 22 (PTI) Investors are the government's partners in the state's development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Friday.
Addressing a function after presenting land allotment letters to 17 investors within the jurisdiction of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), Adityanath said that the state has established itself as a world-class destination for tourism, trade, and investment.
"Investors investing in Uttar Pradesh are the government's partners in the development of the state. We consider the investor a partner. They provide employment and skills to the youth. The government welcomes every investor," he said.
In a statement issued here, Adityanath said, "The very Jewar region - where India's largest facility, the Noida International Airport, stands today - was, nine years ago, considered India's most dreaded area. It was a hotbed for serious criminal incidents. All movement would come to a complete halt after 5.30 pm. There was absolutely no infrastructure. The transformation visible in the YEIDA region today serves as a true reflection of the 'New Uttar Pradesh' in 'New India'."
Before 2017, the chief minister said, a parallel empire was run by the mafia that existed alongside the government administration. An atmosphere of fear prevailed in every district; women were compelled to return home before sunset, and merchants would shut down their shops by 6.00 pm. The roads were riddled with potholes, and the electricity supply was limited to a mere 4 to 5 hours a day.
"Districts were distributed to the mafia. It was the mafia that ran the police stations. The (then) government lacked the necessary policy framework, intent, security apparatus, and land bank required for development," he said.
Describing security as the first condition for development, the chief minister said that Uttar Pradesh's road infrastructure is currently the finest in the country. The state accounts for 60 per cent of the nation's expressways and possesses a road infrastructure network spanning 4,00,000 kilometres.
Adityanath also said that Uttar Pradesh is now liberated from the menace of the mafia, hooliganism, curfews, anarchy, and communal riots. Every investor here is now guaranteed complete security.
He also informed that the Noida International Airport, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February, will also feature cargo and MRO services. Domestic flights are scheduled to commence on June 15, followed by the launch of international services.
"The land being allocated to you is worth its weight in gold. This is the most fertile ground for investment in the world," the chief minister told investors and urged them to expand investments beyond the national capital region.
"You will have an equally positive experience in Ballia, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Shravasti, Chandauli, Sonbhadra, Chitrakoot, Banda, Hamirpur, Mahoba, and Lalitpur as well. Once you visit, you will feel that you should have come here 8-9 years ago," Adityanath said.
