Maharashtra govt clears mega projects of Rs 2.56 lakh crore over 1 lakh jobs expected

Mumbai, Apr 22 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday approved special incentives for 18 large and ultra-large projects involving a total investment of Rs 2.56 lakh crore, aimed at generating more than one lakh direct and indirect jobs in the state.
The approvals were granted at the 14th meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on industries, energy, labour and mining chaired by Fadnavis. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Industries Minister Uday Samant and senior officials attended the meeting, an official release said.
An investment of Rs 2,56,137.01 crore is expected, and the projects will generate one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities, it said.
The projects span thrust sectors and high-technology areas, such as solar cells and modules, ingots and wafers, green steel, green ammonia, electronics, space and defence equipment, lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicles, steel, and gas-to-chemicals.
Among key proposals, Virtuoso Compressors Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 800 crore in Nashik, creating 500 jobs, while Tembo Defence Products Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 1,000 crore in Amravati. Nidec Global Appliances India Pvt Ltd will set up a Rs 1,000 crore project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, which will create 1,000 job opportunities.
Jabil Circuit India Pvt Ltd plans a Rs 1,500 crore investment in Shirur near Pune, expected to create 3,000 jobs. In Gadchiroli, Hariom Pipe Industries Ltd will invest Rs 3,135 crore, generating employment for 8,000 people.
Nibe Space will invest Rs 4,000 crore in Ahilyanagar, while Eurobus India Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 4,200 crore in Talegaon, creating 12,000 jobs.
Million Steel Pvt Ltd will set up a Rs 256.01 crore project in Chandrapur.
Ashok Leyland Ltd will invest Rs 10,000 crore in Bhandara, generating 1,000 jobs. ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 11,400 crore in Butibori (Nagpur) and an additional Rs 11,000 crore in Raigad/Palghar for a green steel project.
Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd will invest Rs 12,780 crore in Nagpur, while Globe Forge Ltd will invest Rs 15,430 crore across Ahilyanagar and Dharashiv. Balasore Alloys will invest Rs 17,479 crore in Raigad.
Godavari New Energy Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 27,515 crore in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and ACME Cleantech will also set up a green ammonia project worth Rs 37,800 crore in Raigad/Palghar.
In Gadchiroli, Rashmi Metallurgical Industries Pvt Ltd will make a Rs 40,000 crore investment, generating 20,000 job opportunities. The largest investment will come from Essar Exploration and Production Ltd, which will invest Rs 56,852 crore in Raigad, creating 25,000 jobs.
Fadnavis said the projects will boost industrial development across Konkan, Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of the state, strengthen local economies, and promote innovation, research and development, as well as supply chain ecosystems.
The CM added that micro, small and medium enterprises will benefit, while local workers will gain access to training and skill development opportunities, enhancing employability.
