Prosecutors revealed that the suspect identified as a white supremacist, shared a manifesto detailing mass murder plots against minority groups, and possessed an unserialized AR-style rifle along with Nazi memorabilia at his home.

The 19-year-old US teen who was arrested after allegedly planning to target a Hindu place of worship in Illinois openly identified as a white supremacist at work and told them he couldn’t wait to kill Indian people.

According to prosecutors from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Alexandros Paporakis, a Taco Bell cashier from Palatine, Illinois, planned to target the largest Hindu temple in the state in Aurora. He was arrested by the Mount Prospect and Palatine police departments on Sunday afternoon, the same day the police believe he planned to carry out an attack.

According to reports, Paporakis told his co-workers that Sunday would be “a special day.” He later told his coworker that his gun had jammed and he left “super fast" without being seen, prosecutors said.

Paporakis also sent his co-workers an eight-page document titled, “Why I fought: A.K.A. (Aurora Shooter’s Manifesto),” which described Indian, Jewish and African American people as “subhumans”. He also described a plot to kill as many of them as possible.

In his manifesto, Paporakis described himself as "a sociopathic white supremacist Neo Nazi filled with hatred, fantasising about mass murder nearly every day.”

Detectives later searched his house, where they discovered an AR-style rifle without a serial number, loaded magazines and ammunition, a gas canister labelled with a slur aimed at South Asians, and several items depicting Nazi symbolism. Among them was a tactical vest containing body armour and a patch displaying imagery associated with white supremacist extremism.

“The seriousness of this alleged threat cannot be overstated," Palatine Police Chief William Nord was quoted by local media. Nord added that protecting places of worship is a law enforcement priority.

Papokaris faces felony charges of making a terrorist threat and unlawfully possessing weapons. He appeared at a detention hearing on Wednesday, October 14, where a judge ordered him detained.
