In a shocking video, a Pakistani Army officer was caught on camera firing his sidearm inside a college campus. Following a confrontation with students inside an Islamabad campus, the middle-aged army officer fired multiple rounds, the video showed.

The viral video was reportedly recorded at the Rawat campus of Pakistan's Sarhad University, where a student agitation took place. As the Gen Z students protested against campus policies, including fee hikes, Dr Aina, the Head of Student Affairs, arrived to hold talks. A report claimed that the campus has been witnessing student protests for over a month now. But, Dr Aina's interaction was not warm, and she summoned her husband, an army officer, to the campus for support.

However, from the viral videos, it is deducible that the uniformed man's presence did not help in calming down the situation. Instead, it escalated as words were exchanged between him and the students. As the angry youngsters heckled him and landed a few blows, the army officer quickly drew his gun and fired a few shots into the air. The campus security officers were seen trying to separate students to prevent the couple from getting beaten up.

Hindi media reports quoted the students as saying that the police teams that arrived at the campus following the incident took no immediate action against the man and attempted to protect him. They also alleged that attempts were made to confiscate the mobile phones of some students who recorded the man firing the weapon.

The Hindi news report added that the Pakistani Army has stated that the officer concerned has been detained and disciplinary action has been initiated against him. The Army has stated that further action will be taken after it receives a detailed investigation report.
