A 26-year-old Indian-origin man named Gurbhej Singh was fatally stabbed in Southall, London, on Wednesday following a dispute, according to police confirmation on Saturday. Singh, who had moved to the UK in 2022 from Punjab, was pronounced dead at the scene, with another man in his 30s sustaining injuries but later discharged from the hospital. The incident, which occurred on North Road near Dormers Wells Lane around 00:30hrs, saw seven men arrested, though only one remains on bail after six were released without further action, and the motive is still under investigation, though family accounts suggest a verbal altercation escalated into an assault outside a shop. Homicide detectives are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage to aid their ongoing inquiry into the tragic death.

A 26-year-old Indian-origin man was stabbed to death in a knife attack in London's Southall on Wednesday, the police confirmed on Saturday. The victim, identified as Gurbhej Singh, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred on North Road near Dormers Wells Lane. Another man in his 30s was also injured during the knife attack. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and has been discharged.

After reports of a stabbing in the area, officers were called on Wednesday by the London Ambulance Service. Officers arrived at the scene along with paramedics, where two injured men were found.

In connection with the incident, seven men aged between their early 20s and late 30s were arrested at the scene. Following questioning, six were released with no further action taken, while one man was granted bail.

The motive behind the fatal attack and the circumstances that led to it are yet to be ascertained.

However, according to the accounts provided by his family in Punjab, the attack stemmed from a sudden dispute.

Gurbhej, reportedly, had a verbal altercation with a group of individuals, also believed to be of Punjabi origin, inside a nearby eating joint. After he left the establishment, the group allegedly cornered and assaulted him outside the shop, slitting his throat with a sharp-edged weapon.

Gurbhej hailed from Mehdipur village in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2022.

Police have urged witnesses and anyone with CCTV footage to come forward as the investigation continues. Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell of the Met's Specialist Crime Command said in a statement, 'Homicide detectives continue to investigate Mr Singh's tragic death, and my thoughts remain with his family and loved ones.

"We believe he was assaulted outside a shop at the junction of North Road and Dormers Well Lane at around 00:30hrs. I would urge anyone with CCTV covering the area - or who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to police - to please come forward and speak to police," Foxwell added.
