Pakistan law minister Azam Nazir Tarar has shot down rumours that former Prime Minister Imran Khan has suffered partial blindness in his right eye, stating that the PTI founder’s vision in one eye is 6/6, which is a miracle at this age. The vision in the other eye is 70 per cent with glasses, the law minister said.
His reaction came as PTI organised a widespread protest and the formation of Imran Khan Release Force, after reports emerged that the former Pakistan Prime Minister will be moved to Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital, which has reserved 10 rooms exclusively for him.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that the medical team expressed complete satisfaction with the ongoing treatment of Khan. A detailed briefing was given to the opposition leaders and the founder's personal physicians. “Khan's vision in one eye is 70% with glasses, while the vision in the other eye is 6/6, which is nothing less than a miracle at this age. The PTI founder is aware of the health of his eyes, and medical procedures are also underway,” the law minister said, adding that it was important to inform the public to avoid speculations.
A team of expert doctors had conducted a complete and detailed medical examination of Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.
Earlier, Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, had told the Supreme Court that the PTI founder's eyesight had reduced to 15%.

According to the medical board, there has been a clear improvement in the vision of the right eye, from 6/36 to 6/9 partial. The vision of the left eye is within normal limits, and the examination has revealed a satisfactory report. After fitting glasses, the vision of the left eye was recorded as 6/6.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced the formation of “Imran Khan Release Force”, which will work towards releasing Khan from jail. The former cricketer-turned-politician has been in jail since August 2023. Imran’s loyalist Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that he had been assigned the responsibility of leading a "street movement" by the incarcerated PTI founder.
