Bajendra Biswas was fatally shot by a colleague, Noman Mia, 22, at Sultana Sweaters Ltd factory Bangladesh's Mymensingh

Days after lynching and violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, another Hindu man was shot dead in Mymensingh, about 120 km north of Dhaka.

The murder happened on Monday around 6.30 pm.

Who was Bajendra Biswas?

Bajendra Biswas was an employee at Sultana Sweaters Ltd factory in Mehrabari, Mymensingh. The 40-year-old was identified as the son of Probitra Biswas from Kadirpur, Sylhet Sadar.

He was fatally shot by a colleague, Noman Mia, who was identified as the son of one Lutfar Rahman from Baluturi Bazar in Sunamhanj.

Before firing with a shotgun at Biswas's thigh, Mia reportedly said, "Shall I shoot?". After committing the murder, he fled immediately. Though the victim was rushed to the Sub-district Health Complex, he was declared dead on arrival.

An eyewitness said the duo did not have any argument before the incident.

Mia was arrested soon after, revealed Md Abdullah Al Mamun, Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) of Mymensingh. He added that there have launched a probe into the death.

Earlier, a man named Amrit Mondal was killed over extortion allegations. Days before that, a factory worker identified as Dipu Chandra Das was lynched to death by a crowd.
