As more details regarding Tyler Robinson, the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s death, emerge, a report has  detailed a weird message he sent to a friend in a group chat on the social platform Discord. A friend reportedly got in touch with Tyler after noticing the images of the suspect released by the FBI.

Just after the FBI released the grainy images, the friend, who has not been identified, tagged Tyler on Discord, attaching the images. He wrote: “wya (where you at) with a skull emoji, hinting that the images looked similar to Tyler, according to the New York Times.

Tyler immediately replied that his “doppelganger” was getting him in trouble. Another user immediately added in jest: “Tyler killed Charlie!!!!”

More people joined the “fun” conversation, with one stating that the group could turn Tyler in and get the $100,000 reward that the F.B.I. was offering. Tyler had an amusing reply to that comment: “Only if I get a cut”.

Another user commented: “Whatever you do, don’t go to a McDonald's anytime soon,” a reference to the arrest of Luigi Mangione, an American man accused of killing Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare.

Tyler had a reply to that: “Better also get rid of this manifesto and exact copy rifle I have lying around.”

The chats didn’t end there. Another user suggested that the killing of Kirk would lead President Trump  to send the National Guard to Utah. To this, Tyler replied: “in a red state??? nah CLEARLY the shooter was from California.”

The messages went on, with Tyler hinting that he was closely following the news. “I heard the ammo had somethin about trans stuff on it, but they aren’t releasing photos or exact quotes,” he wrote, adding that the “claim wasn’t backed by the official fbi”.

He then joked: “I’m actually Charlie Kirk, wanted to get outta politics so I faked my death, now I can live out my dream life in kansas.”

The report added that the messages were exchanged between Tyler and his friend around 1 pm local time on Thursday afternoon. Tyler ended up in police custody only the next day, that too after his father turned him in.

The NYT report added that the messages were shared with it by Tyler’s high school friend, who, however, has not seen him for years. The report has not identified the friend upon his request.
