Not one incident, but two: Media reports quoted police as saying that two shootings at a university hospital and a home in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam claimed multiple lives on Thursday.

Location: The medical facility was identified as Rotterdam's Erasmus Medical Centre. A fire was also reported at both places (the hospital and the nearby apartment) following the violent crime. The shooter reportedly opened fire inside a classroom at the hospital, initial reports said.

Casualties: The details of the victims are withheld as the Rotterdam Police Department is in the process of informing their families. Details of the dead will be made public after the process is completed, the department said on X (formerly Twitter)

Suspected attacker held: A suspect, 32-year-old male, has been arrested after the shootings, media reports confirmed. He was picked up from the helipad of Erasmus Medical Centre, a report said. The man donned military clothing and opened fire using a handgun, the Associated Press said in a report. No info on the motive behind the attack was released by the investigation team.
