India prepared to contribute to any peace process: PM on Ukraine conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni here on Thursday and exchanged views on taking the multi-faceted bilateral ties forward.


Meloni was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as she arrived here on a state visit.
In a joint press meet, PM Modi said, “As we mark 75 years of diplomatic relations, have decided to elevate ties to strategic partnership.”

“Have stressed on strengthening economic ties; Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat opening numerous investment opportunities,” he said. “India, Italy working shoulder to shoulder in fighting terrorism, separatism,” Modi added.

The PM further said that Meloni and him are “announcing establishment of 'Start Up Bridge' between India and Italy.”

“India is fully prepared to contribute to any peace process,” he said on the Ukraine conflict. “From beginning of Ukraine conflict, India made clear that it can be resolved only through dialogue, diplomacy,” he added.

“Welcome Italy's active participation in Indo-Pacific; matter of happiness that it decided to join Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative.”

“India can play central role in facilitating, negotiating process for cessation of hostilities,” Italian PM Giorgia Meloni said on Ukraine conflict.
